Originally Colts neck was a farming community. It is long been known for its large number of its equestrian farms. Regarding transportation 2 major state roads passed through the township route 18 and Route 34.  A short drive away in Holmdel the Garden State Parkway is easily accessible.

Laird’s Apple Jack is America’s oldest native distillery.  It was established in Colts neck in 1780.  When the first settlers arrived in America they brought apple seeds with them from Scotland to establish the first Apple crops in the New World.  It  was harvested from trees planted by the pilgrims. The early colonists were leery of drinking water they believed it to carry disease. They thought that the strong drinks on the other hand prevented ill health. Robert laird was a revolutionary war soldiers serving under George Washington, and the laird family supplied the troops with Apple jacks. Historical record show that prior to 1760 George Washington Wrote to the laird family requesting the recipe for producing apple jacks, which the laird family gladly supplied.

Delicious orchards is a farm and country food market located in Colts neck New Jersey. Over 2 1/2 million people visit delicious orchards annually.  Patrons have a variety of fresh foods from several different departments that are available for purchase. These include produce deli bakery coffees teas a smoothie bar organic foods and candy. They also offer a personalized gift baskets and catering.

Delicious orchards began in 1911 as a small orchard and local roadside stand.

Another very popular place to visit in Colts neck is Dorbrook recreation area.  This active recreation site features 535 acres which includes a barrier free playground, tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, A spray ground that the kids absolutely love.  There is an in-line skating ring, basketball courts, open fields, and miles of paved trails for walking, biking,and enjoyable outside fun.

The Colts Neck School District is a comprehensive community public school district serving students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade in Colts Neck Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States.  It is comprised of 3 total schools (elementary and middle).  Conover Road Elementary, Conover Road Primary and Cedar Drive Middle.  Colts Neck High School is part of the Freehold Regional System.
